Job Post:

  • Reporting to a Senior Writer, the Writer’s job is primarily to generate ideas, concept with designers, and write and edit copy. This requires collaboration with strategists in order to translate brand through voice and style, and with information architects, designers and developers in order to concept ideas and map content into the experience. The Writer leads the production of copy, both feature and functional, implementation of proper voice and tone, and the development and writing of customer communications (FAQs, policies, etc.) The Writer should possess strong skills in the areas of communication, information management and writing. The Writer partners with their design counterpart to brainstorm, ideate and concept. The Writer also needs the ability to think strategically, collaborate across disciplines, take editorial action, follow style guides, maintain consistent style throughout a lengthy engagement and meet tight deadlines for original copy and copy revisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Embracing, understanding and applying strategy and Thought Leadership to creative work
  • Planning, collecting, organizing and tracking all content throughout entire project, including inception, creation, editing, proofing and launch
  • Working with designers to concept and execute websites, banner ads, prototypes and presentations
  • Collaborating with all disciplines while overseeing the development, manipulation, organization, integration, revision and maintenance of site content
  • Providing documentation during all phases of development including current content documents content plans and voice and tone guides
  • Communicating with and educating others about best practices and facilitating the sharing of knowledge throughout the organization
  • Collaborating specifically with proofreaders, editors and search strategists to make sure copy is clean, tight and optimized for search
  • Understanding the client’s business and project objectives and acquiring category, audience and competitive knowledge to formulate site tactics accordingly
  • Educating and assisting clients on the unique properties of interactive content, as well as the requirements necessary for identifying, collecting and creating relevant text
  • Ensuring content is correct and clean in every draft, through to launch
  • Identifying and resolving legal issues as they relate to site content
  • Deliver content on deadline
  • Provide assistance with scoping projects
  • Tracking progress against time, budget and scope
  • Participating in project “post-mortems” for internal knowledge management
  • Help client service and designers identify opportunities to leverage content
  • Understanding and familiarity with companys thought leadership and how it can be applied
  • Participating in client-planning brainstorm sessions and sharing ideas to move the client forward
  • Supporting the creation of spec work on new business Pursuit teams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years experience in an agency environment
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work well under pressure
  • Strong research and communications (written and verbal) skills, along with strong analytical skills in order to identify problems and needs and then define them for strategic and creative development
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work closely with the client, strategists, creatives and developers to translate strategic insights into actionable content plans
  • Knowledge of best practices on the internet, especially as they relate to content issues
  • Experience researching and reporting on content-related issues to stimulate learning and discussion within the organization
  • Advanced understanding of appropriate software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Project) and text-based HTML editors, and an understanding of HTML and other web programming and scripting languages
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and relationship building experience
