Happy Berkshustmas: The Best Gifts for Gadget Lovers

Author: Dan Shust | VP Resource Lab

via Resource’s weThink blog

Every holiday season, fellow technology lover Chris Berk and I host a company-wide event affectionately known as BerkShustmas (or ChrisDanukkah). During this fast-paced hour, we discuss and demo our favorite tech-influenced gifts for the holiday season. It’s one of our favorite hours of the year and based on the standing room only crowds, our associates love it as well.

When we started doing this four years ago, it was pretty easy… ”You need to get an iPhone, iPad, these apps, or an LED flat screen.” Now, there are so many unique sources for gifts from Etsy, Kickstarter and Shapeways, just to name a few, it’s hard to narrow down the list. We wanted to take the time to share some of our favorites with you.

The Powerup 3.0 Paper Airplane $30

Gone are the days of boring paper airplanes. This very cool Kickstarter project turns paper airplanes into smartphone controlled, motorized flyers.

Quirky Nimbus Personal Dashboard $129

A four-dial dashboard, Nimbus allows you to personalize what is important to you and monitors everything from traffic and weather to your Fitbit and email.

Bose Sound Link Mini $199

Loving the amazing sound from this small, portal, battery-powered speaker.

FiftyThree Pencil $50

Resourcians are big fans of the Paper app for sketching and now FiftyThree has made a special iPad stylus to go along with it. Bonus points for making it out of wood!

Anki DRIVE $199

The logical evolution of slot cars, Anki DRIVE uses Artificial Intelligence to deliver the first video game in the real world.

Coin $55

All my credit, debit and loyalty cards in one credit card? Yes, please.

LittleBits $199

A great way to get kids involved with electronics pre- arduino. They have a special Korg version that Reggie Watts helped create. Super cool.

Occipital Structure Sensor $349

Turn your iPad into a 3D scanner. The possibilities are endless.

Wahoo Fitness Kicker Power Trainer $1,099

Ride video courses all over the world and the Kickr resistance reacts to the climbs. The very realistic feeling makes winter cycling training bearable.

One World Futbol Project $39

Amazing technology has made this ball virtually indestructible. And the best part is, it’s buy one, give one. With every ball you buy, One World Futbol donates a ball to youth in a disadvantaged community.

We hope these gift ideas have helped you find the perfect present for the gadget guru in your life. We would like to hear more about the tech gifts you’re loving this holiday season in the comment section below.

Happy BerkShustmas to all and to all a good night!
