Our industry-recognized competition honors excellence in marketing and communications. Share your work that inspired and drove innovation in 2017.

Entry Instructions

Please review the Judging Criteria and Scoring Guides. If you have questions, please contact aim@amacolumbus.org.

  • Work created between Oct. 1, 2016 and Sept. 30, 2017 is eligible to submit.
  • Entries are extended to Friday, October 20, 2017 at noon.
  • Entries must be submitted online (see links to submission forms below).
  • Each entry must be submitted individually with payment at the time of online submission.
  • If you are submitting in multiple divisions and categories, please submit using separate online forms. You can submit items to be judged together, such as three ads in one form.
  • Each submission will be judged on its own merits.
  • Please upload creative content as a .pdf or .jpg. The combined file size limit is 40MB per submission. Alternatively, include a URL, link to YouTube, Dropbox, etc. in the Creative question response.
  • Links to content must remain active until Feb. 28, 2018.
  • Emailed, mailed or couriered entries and creative content cannot be accepted.
  • If you have difficulties uploading your entries, please contact technology@amacolumbus.org and we’ll help you.

Non-AMA Member: $40/entry

Marketer of the Year: No Fee

Tips for Successful Entries

  • If your creative content is hosted on a server inside your organization, test the hyperlink from a location outside your organization.
  • If your creative content is hosted on an FTP server, ensure that a password is not required and that the hyperlink points directly to the file to be judged.
  • Also acceptable: A pdf including images and active links uploaded with the submission.

Top Score in each division: Receives a Platinum Award trophy and competes for the Grand AIM Award (unless otherwise noted)

This category pays homage to the brilliant ideas that never saw the light of day. If you had a client who didn’t recognize the brilliance of your work and decided to go with a different concept, this is an opportunity to dust off your poor rejected work and give it the recognition it deserves. Judging will use criteria based on the category you would have submitted in if the client had chosen your concept.

 

11. MARKETER OF THE YEAR (not eligible for Grand AIM)

The AMA Columbus Marketer of the Year award honors an individual for their extraordinary leadership and achievement in the field of Marketing.

Scoring Guidelines

Entries (except those noted below) will be judged based on the following 6 elements:

1. Background [10 points possible]

2. Strategy [20 points possible]

3. Objective(s) [20 points possible]

4. Creative [25 points possible]

5. Results [25 points possible]

6. Overall Impression [10 points possible]

 

100 potential points; entry must earn at least 40 points to be eligible for an award.

80‐100: Exceptional Strategic Definition with Excellent Results and Creative Content

40‐79: Appropriate Strategic Definition with Effective Results and Creative Content

20‐39: Inadequate Strategic Definition with Fair Results and Creative Content

0-19: Inadequate Strategic Definition with Poor Results and Creative Content

9. GRAPHIC DESIGN & PHOTOGRAPHY (not eligible for Grand AIM)

Entries will be judged based on the following 3 elements with 45 potential points.
1. Situation Analysis [20 points possible]

2. Creative Content [20 points possible]

3. Overall Impression [5 points possible]

 

45 potential points; entry must earn at least 25 points to be eligible for an award.

30-45: Exceptional Situation Definition with Excellent Creative Content

15-29: Appropriate Situation Definition with Effective Creative Content

0-14: Inadequate Situation Definition with Poor Creative Content

 

10. BEST IDEA REJECTED BY THE CLIENT (not eligible for Grand AIM)

Judging will use criteria based on the category you would have submitted in if the client had chosen your concept.
